SRI is an artist/illustrator of dual heritage who draws upon the experience of this mixed background as a significant influence on her artwork. Absorbing inspiration from a diverse spectrum of visual and cultural references, SRI is interested in exploring ideas of cultural diversity, mixed heritage and identity.
Following a keen interest in all aspects of graffiti and street art, as well as traditional and contemporary illustration; folk arts, art nouveau and anime, these eclectic and dynamic influences are woven together to produce a fresh, organic and distinctive feminine style.
SRI’s recent projects include being invited to perform at live drawing events at both The Institute of Contemporary Arts (Heavy Pencil) and at The Hayward Gallery, Southbank Centre (School of Dark). Likewise, she was invited by Charlie Dark to lead a series of youth art workshops at the ‘Bring The Noise’ event, which was held in response to the Chris Ofili retrospective at the Tate Britain.
Recent solo exhibitions include ‘Between Worlds‘ at Dalston’s Print House Gallery and ‘Archipelago‘ at the Eastpak Icon Store Gallery in the heart of London’s Carnaby St, showing until September 13th 2010.
